Dear Parent/Carer

All Year One children and some Year Two children will be completing a Phonics Screening Check
during the week beginning the 17th June 2024.

This is a statutory national test that we are
required to carry out and report on to the Government, that assesses whether children have learnt the sounds expected within Year 1 and Reception.

The check will be completed by a member of staff, the children have already completed practice
tests and are comfortable with the format.

There are two sections in this 40-word check. Your child will read up to four words per page for their teacher and they will do the check in one sitting of about 5–10 minutes.
