Year 4

In Year 4 we love learning things in as many different ways as possible. From written work, independent research, artistic expression, physical activity, drama, conversation, technology and school visits are all used to help us learn about ourselves, our local community and the wider World around us. We are a class packed full of a whole range of talents and love showing what we can do!.

Mr Good

Autumn term information.

P.E. days are now on a Monday and Thursday.

Library day is Thursday.

If you struggle to complete any homework there is an extra session at 12.30 every Friday in the ICT room.

Reading

It is very important that Children read for at least 10 - 15 minutes a day. Confident readers make for confident and successful learners. You could use Oxford Reading Buddy, library books, your stage reader or a book of your own. Reading a range of genres is important but there is no harm in losing yourself in a series or selection of books by the same author.

Homework

Spelling - Spellings in class are on a two week cycle following the Jane Considene scheme of work. Spelling frame will be published fortnightly to match this.

TT Rock Stars - With the national time table test for Year 4 coming up in June it is important to keep up with this. As a rule of thumb, if you can score 20 or above on the soundcheck game, then you are on target. Ten games per week should help you to achieve this.

Reading - One book and quiz on Reading Buddy each week.

Spelling Punctuation and Grammar - One SPaG sheet consisting of seven questions will be sent home every week to be returned by Friday.

The fantastic Year 4 at work. The pictures of us with the cubes show how we used the particle model in Science to learn about the properties of solids, liquids and gases. We also used food colouring to observe how particles move in a liquid. In Art you can see us using ribbon to draw using tone to create a 3D effect.
