Real-Life Heroes Visit Seaburn Dene
Our Reception children have been embracing their inner superheroes as part of an exciting topic exploring the real-life heroes who help us every day. We were delighted to welcome visitors from our local police team, the Post Office, NHS professionals, and a veterinary expert—William’s mum—who all shared their experiences of working in the community.
These special visits brought learning to life, sparking curiosity and inspiring our young learners to think about their own futures. The children had plenty of fascinating questions, making each session interactive and engaging.
Oscar, one of our Reception pupils, was thrilled to meet the police team, saying, “I liked trying on the police helmet ! It was really heavy. They help people to stay safe.” Mabel particularly enjoyed the veterinary talk, adding, “I want to help animals when I grow up, just like William’s mum!”
Mr. John Howe, Headteacher at Seaburn Dene Primary School, shared his thoughts on the importance of these experiences: “At Seaburn Dene, we believe learning should extend beyond the classroom, which is why we incorporate 80 experiences into school life to enhance our curriculum. Visits like these help children make real-world connections and inspire them to think about their futures in a meaningful way.”
We are so proud of how engaged and enthusiastic our Reception children have been during this topic. Their curiosity and excitement have made this a truly memorable learning experience!
