Admissions

The school's Published Admission Number (PAN) is 30.

Choosing the very first school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make. We will be delighted to help you by explaining the admissions procedure and giving you a flavour of the whole school at work. Please contact Mrs Baker in the school office (0191 563 4100), who will make an appointment for you to visit us. We also welcome families of children moving from other schools due to a house move at any time within the school year.

NURSERY ADMISSIONS 2024-25

During the school year we take children into our nursery in September, January and April. The criteria is that they are 3 years old in the term before they begin. So a child who is 3 in February for instance can start in April.

Nursery aged children are entitled to at least 15 hours a week in school. We offer 30 free hours a week in the nursery for parents who are eligible. We are also pleased to offer additional sessions above the 15 hours at £15 per session for those families not eligible for 30 hours.  This is at the school's discretion according to ratios of children and staff and we ask for payment a term in advance so that staffing can be organised.

RECEPTION ADMISSIONS 2025

Children are admitted to Seaburn Dene Primary school in the September of the academic year in which they turn 5. Admissions applications to Seaburn Dene Primary's Reception classes each year are dealt with by the Schools Admissions Department at Sunderland City Council. www.sunderland.gov.uk/admissionsonline and not by the school.  If you are interested in applying for a Reception 2025 place, please contact Mrs Baker in the school office to arrange a tour and meet our headteacher and Reception staff tel: 0191 563 4100 or email: admin@seaburndeneprimary.co.uk

The Sunderland City Council application process opens on 30th September 2024 and runs until January 15, 2025. The National Offer Day for Reception places is 16th April 2025.

If you applied online you can log into your application on this day to view and accept your offer.

Letters will be sent by second class post to parents and carers who applied by paper.

Please remember to accept your offer by the deadline of 1st May 2025.  If you do not respond the offer may be withdrawn. Any places that have become available since offer day will be reallocated on 3rd May 2025.

School Transfer Process

If you would like your child to move schools during the academic year, please find details below of the process you need to follow.

You can either download the application via the school website (see below), or contact Mrs Baker in the School Office by calling into school, or call on 0191 563 4100 to request a Transfer Form.

Once the form has been completed and returned to the current school it will be sent directly to the preferred school. The preferred school will contact parents/carer directly if there is a place. If the year group is full, parents/carers will receive a letter to confirm this.

To apply for a school in another area, parent/carer must contact the Council where the school is located for advice about the application process.
