Reading

We expect all our children to read every evening and at weekends. In Year 5, 15 minutes should be the minimum, but, if your child can't put their book down because they are so engrossed, that's the magic of reading.  It is important to encourage your child to read a range of book genres / styles, but equally, there is no harm in being addicted to a series or specific author! We want children to develop a reading for pleasure mindset.

Homework

Homework runs Friday to Friday in Year 5. Each week there will be the following homework set:

  • 12 x 1 minute TT Rockstar games
  • Spellings - Practice and test completed on Spelling Frame
  • Daily reading with a combination of Reading Plus and books from school / home.
  • SPAG Blast or arithmetic practise.
