The Early Years Foundation Stage - Nursery and Reception
Starting Nursery is an exciting milestone in a child’s life. Our teacher-led Nursery and Reception classrooms and outdoor areas have been carefully designed to maximise learning for young children, who are all a vital part of our wider school "family".
Seaburn Dene Nursery offers flexible hours and various options, split across morning and afternoon sessions. Parents can also apply for an additional 15 hours (up to 30 hours free nursery provision.)
Separate entrances for younger and older children help create the feeling of a small school ‘within a school’. Drop off and collection from the class door ensure our children feel safe in their environment.
Every child is unique and are able to thrive with the teaching and care of our early years experts. Children learn in a range of settings: whole class sessions; teacher led small group sessions and independent child led activities. At the end of the Reception year, a careful programme of transition helps children to move smoothly into Year 1 and the wider school.
At Seaburn Dene, children can join our Nursery provision from the term after their third birthday. We offer all children 15 hours of FREE nursery education and we also offer up to an additional 15 hours to eligible families.
We have intakes in September, January and April. Nursery registrations can be made once your child has had their second birthday

If your child is eligible for 30hr nursery care then we would recommend that parents apply for their eligibility code at least 4/6 weeks before their child starts nursery to make sure they get their code in good time for the start of the new term. Not all parents can get a code straight away – HMRC sometimes needs more information to check whether a parent is eligible.
Can we remind parents who already have an eligibility code that you need to reconfirm your eligibility for 30 hours every 3 months. The funding will be withdrawn if parents do not reconfirm their status within the deadline dates.
For those parents who are only accessing part of their 30hr entitlement, we would advise that any changes you may wish to make eg. increasing the number of days, must be done at the beginning of each term, not half way through. Please contact the school office should you have any queries.
